DIY: Homemade Face & Body Sugar Scrub

If you have been keeping up with the #fmsphotoaday photo challenge, you know that today’s word of the day was Clean. I thought I’d share my favorite face & body sugar scrub recipe. This definitely works for me. Let us know what you think.

Ingredients:
1/2 Cup of Brown Sugar
1/4 Cup of Olive Oil
2 Tbsps of Honey
1/2 Lemon (juice)

Combine all ingredients and store in a small jar. Then scrub, scrub, scrub!

INSTAGRAM – Photo A Day Challenge (November) 2012

Here we go again ~ another Instagram Photo a Day Challenge has begun.  The new list for November is out and we are excited to participate again  After wrapping up the October Photo A Day we are looking forward to this great new list for November. We are having so much fun and the new November #Photoaday Challenge List looks like it will be fun.

November 2012 Instagram Photo A Day Challenge

Here are some of our favorites from this month.

Here’s a little more about the prompts:

1. Something beginning with ‘c’:  Just pick anything {ANYTHING!} beginning with C and take a photo of it.  It’s an easy one to start the month with.

2. Color:  Take a photo of a color, or something colourful.

3. Breakfast: Yes. It’s time to take a photo of your breakfast. Get creative.

4. TV:  Take a photo of your television, or where you watch TV. Or if you don’t have a TV – take a photo of whatever you do instead. Or someone else’s TV.

5. 5 o’clock:  Take a photo of whatever you’re doing at 5am or 5pm.

6. A favourite thing:  Take a photo of something you adore – a favourite book, movie, person, possession… anything.

7. Reflection:  You could reflect back on life or take a photo of something reflecting, or even a reflection of yourself.

8. Something you do everyday:  What’s something you do most days? Brush your teeth? Fix your hair? Write in your journal? Drive your car? Make dinner? Run? Share it.

9. Small:  Take a photo of something small. Perhaps a bug, a toy or a small gesture.

10. Can’t {won’t} live without:  What’s something you’d rather not live without? Is it coffee? Or something else. Shoot it and share it.

11. Night:  Take a photo of something at night. Perhaps it’s your even routine, or something else?

12. Drink:  Take a photo of a drink. Yours or someone else.

13. Where you slept:  Take a photo of where you slept. Perhaps you took a nap somewhere odd. Or did you just sleep in your bed?

14. Man-made:  There’s natural and then there’s man-made. Take a photo of something made by man.

15. In your bag:  Take a photo of the inside of your bag. Or perhaps take out the contents and give us a full view of what you’re carrying around.

16. The view from your window:  What do you see when you look out your window? Is it as uninspiring as a wall. Who cares? Show us.

17. The last thing you bought:  Perhaps it was a car {dreaming!}, a loaf of bread, or a fancy pair of shoes. Share it!

18. Happened this weekend:  Take a photo of something you did this weekend. Perhaps it was just sleeping, or was it partying? Just shoot a part of your weekend and share it.

19. Something awesome:  Take a photo of something awesome in your life, or something rather awesome that you saw.

20. Work/play:  You could use something like picframe to share two photos – one of what ‘work’ looks like for you, and another of what ‘play’ looks like for you.

21. What you wore:  Take a photo of something you wore. Easy.

22. Grateful:  In parts of the world today it’s Thanksgiving Day. Take a photo of something you’re grateful for.

23. Black:  Take a photo of something black.

24. A sound you heard:  What’s something you heard today? Children laughing? Birds singing? An alarm? Music? Share it.

25. Sky: Take a photo of the sky.

26. In the cupboard: Take a photo of inside a cupboard. Be creative so it’s not as boring as it could be.

27. Tree: Take a photo of a tree. Again test out your creative bones. You could lie down on the ground and take a photo looking up. You could experiment with angles and filters. Have fun.

28. Vehicle:  Take a photo of a car, bus, boat, plane or another type of vehicle.

29. Big:  Take a photo of some BIG!

30. On the wall:  What’s on the wall? Some art? A poster? A fly. Shoot it.

This has been a very fun way to share with friends. It’s turned into a little competition amongst us to see who can make the cutest picture for the day and we have stayed in touch more by doing this.

One of our favorite part of photo a day is checking out everyone else’s photos. You can find them on Instagram or Twitter by searching the hashtag #FMSphotoaday.

Now here is a little more about each prompt for October:

1. Where you stood: Take a photo of where you’re standing.
2. Lunchtime: Take a photo of your lunch, or around you at lunchtime.
3. This happened today: What’s something that happened today? Shoot it and share it.
4. What you read: Did you read a sign? Are you reading a book? A blog? Shoot and share.
5. Shadow: Take a photo of your shadow or any shadow.
6. I’m thankful for…: What are you thankful for today? It can be simple or BIG. Share it.
7. Light: You can shoot sunflare, a streetlight, light from the sun… any kind of light.
8. Angle: Look at angles in buildings, structures, books, anything. Find an angle and take a photo.
9. Red: Take a photo of something red.
10. Emotion: Happy. Sad. Angry. Overjoyed and so on and so forth. Be creative.
11. Something close-up: These photos might be a little mysterious. Take a photo of something really close-up.
12. On the table: Last month we did table, but this month let’s do ON the table. What’s on your table?
13. Landscape: Take a photo of the skyline, a landscape you see.
14. Makes you laugh: What’s something funny that makes you laugh. Share it.
15. Dinnertime: Just like lunchtime, only later. Take a picture of what dinnertime is like on this day for you.
16. Something you wrote: Take a photo of something you wrote or drew.
17. Fruit: Take a photo of a piece of fruit, or a few.
18. Made you smile today: What made you smile today? Find it. Shoot it. Share it.
19. Letters: Take a photo of letters. They might make up a poster, or something bigger. Or even be mail?
20. 4 o’clock: Take a photo a 4am or 4pm – whatever you’re doing at that time.
21. Calm: Take a photo of something that makes you feel calm, or represents calm.
22. In your town: Take a photo of something from where you live. It might be a building, people, park or something else.
23. The view from here: Take a photo of your view from where you are. It might be your office, your home, traveling. The everyday can sometimes be very interesting.
24. Weather: Take a photo of the weather today. Let’s travel around the world with everyone’s weather photos.
25. People: It might be people you know or people you don’t. Take a photo of people.
26. Listening to: What are you listening to? Music? Children laughing? Share it.
27. Morning: Take a photo of your morning.
28. Looking back: Take a photo of something from your past, or from just behind you. Look back and take a photo.
29. Moon: The moon is just about full tonight. Take a photo.
30. Clothes: Take a photo of clothes. Perhaps what you’re wearing, or in your wardrobe, on a mannequin or otherwise.
31. Whatever you please: Are you celebrating Halloween tonight? Perhaps take a photo of that. Today is free choice – take a photo of ANYTHING you like.

One of our favorite part of photo a day is checking out everyone else’s photos. You can find them on Instagram or Twitter by searching the hashtag #FMSphotoaday.

Now here is a little more about each prompt for September:

1. You, now: A photo of you at present. This could be a self-portrait, a photo of your reflection, or a photo of a photo.
2. Father: In honor of Father’s Day in Australia. Take a photo of your dad, a Dad, a father figure, something that your Dad likes, Etc.
3. Far Away: Take a photo of something far away, as in distance or time-wise.
4. In my mailbox/postbox: Take a photo of something out of your mailbox, or inside your mailbox.
5. Bright: Take a photo of something bright, someone super smart, or something just bright!
6. Every day: Take a photo of something from your every day, or something that happens every day.
7. Natural: Take a photo of something natural {in colour or else}.
8. At night: Take a photo at night.
9. Something you do most weekends: Do you sleep? Eat? Play? Party? Snap it.
10. Hero: Who do you look up to? Share.
11. Black + White: Shoot in black and white today.
12. Together: Snap a photo of something together, or something that belongs together.
13. Table: Take a photo of a table, or something on a table.
14. Favorite: Take a photo of something that you adore!
15. First thing you see: What’s the first thing you see when you wake? Get to work? Or go somewhere? Snap it. Share it.
16. Strange: Shoot something strange/unsual in your day.
17. In my fridge: Give us a glimpse into the state of your fridge.
18. Price: Snap a price, on an ad, a tag or somewhere else.
19. Underneath: Snap a photo of something underneath. Simple.
20. Man-made: The opposite to natural, kinda. Take a photo of something man-made.
21. Sometimes: What’s something that happens sometimes in your life? Shoot it.
22. Up: Look up. Snap. Share.
23. Before bedtime: What’s the last thing you do before bedtime, or in the hour before bedtime? Shoot it.
24. 3 things: Take a photo of three things {objects or otherwise}.
25. Frame: Take a photo of something within a frame.
26. Near: Take a photo of something near.
27. Love/Hate: Take a photo of something you love/hate. It would be done by take two photos and combining them in one using an app {like picframe}, or sharing two photos.
28. A good thing: Take a photo of a good thing {something you saw, something love etc}.
29. Errand: Take a photo of a errand you’ve done, or need to do, or something else did.
30. You, then: Take a photo of you from the past {think childhood or even last month!}.
